Robert M. Clinger III, Certified Business Appraiser, Certified Valuation Analyst, and Certified Machinery & Equipment Appraiser, has strong experience in the fields of business valuation, financial analysis, and strategic advisory services. Since founding Highland Global, Mr. Clinger has conducted over 10,000 business valuations of privately held corporations for a variety of purposes, including SBA 7a business acquisition loans, ROBS plans, estate planning/tax purposes, ESOPs, mergers & acquisitions, shareholder buyouts, buy-sell agreements, and capital raising. Mr. Clinger also provides strategic advisory and financial analysis services to privately held businesses throughout the United States as part of an exit plan for small business owners. On select engagements, Mr. Clinger represents buyers or sellers in mergers or acquisitions. He has been involved in projects spanning a variety of industries and sizes, from Main Street to middle-market businesses throughout the United States.
Mr. Clinger has written numerous articles regarding valuations and merger/acquisition issues. His article, "Direct Market Data Method: Value Disparity Issues," was published in The Value Examiner in the March/April 2006 and July 2006 editions. Mr. Clinger is also the author of two business valuation books, The Seven Deadly Sins of Business Valuation and The Seven Deadly Sins of Business Valuation: Closely Held and Family Controlled Companies.
Mr. Clinger earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration/Finance, summa cum laude, from Coastal Carolina University, where he received the distinguished President’s award as well as the Outstanding Student of Finance award. In April 2000, Mr. Clinger received the Financial Executive Institute Scholar’s Medallion from the Carolina’s Chapter. In 2015, he was recognized by the National Association of Certified Valuators and Analysts as a 40 Under Forty Honoree.
