Capt. Dumont is a maritime expert and consulting appraiser and licensed and bonded shipbroker with over twenty years of operational seafaring experience as well as more than ten years as a marine surveyor and master mariner consultant. He has served in leadership roles including command roles as ship’s Master (Class 1 equivalent) Ships Pilot, and maritime asset consultant on all types of marine assets including dredgers, passenger vessels, oil and chemical tankers, VLCC’s and offshore anchor handlers. Darren holds a certified mobile and floating crane inspector qualification and is competent in crane inspection and annual certification. As an appraiser, Darren has consulted on a wide range of due diligence projects for financial institutions, including fleet reviews, legal firms for various litigation purposes including ship arrest cases and enforcement of Maritime liens as well as insurance appraisals and limited scope fleet valuations for M&A and repossessions. In his role as a surveyor, he has undertaken assignments for hull and machinery losses and represented the interests of large companies, ship owners, their underwriters, and P&I Clubs.
Darren is an alumnus of Maine Maritime Academy with a BSc in Nautical Science, as well as a graduate of Lloyds Maritime Academy with a Higher National Diploma in Marine Surveying and Warranty Surveying.
He holds a USCG Unlimited Master of Steam and Motor Vessels (Class 1 Certificate of Competency). He is skilled in the certified appraisal of all types of marine assets and equipment. He has conducted numerous maritime asset and business transactions for clients world wide. He is based in Houston, Texas, and available for US domestic engagements from coast to coast.
