Director, State and Local Tax Practice
Don Lippert is a Director with Grant Thornton LLP specializing in valuation services and property tax consulting. He has approximately 20 years of professional experience and has worked extensively with manufacturing, airlines, telecommunications, hospitality, senior living, financial services, retail, high-tech, healthcare and energy industries.
Don has comprehensive experience in personal property and real estate valuation services. His group performs appraisals for purchase price allocations, tax purposes, estate planning, insurable value and impairment studies. He also performs numerous audit assist reviews on tangible valuations.
He has performed due diligence on multi-billion dollar utility projects and served as the National Deployment Leader of a Pollution Control Initiative, which reduced clients’ taxable base by taking exemptions from the market of their pollution-control equipment.
Experience
Prior to joining Grant Thornton, Don was a manager at General Electric where he oversaw all aspects of the property tax process for their Energy, Healthcare, Water and Industrial businesses. Under his direction, these businesses achieved over $105 million in property tax savings. He worked at a Big 4 accounting firm prior to his time at GE.
